Frequently Asked Questions
How can I tell what size storage unit I need?
The unit size you need depends primarily on what you are storing. If you plan to frequently access your unit to take items in and out, you will want more room. Boxes can be stacked; some furniture cannot. Please refer to our storage size guide or call the manager at (559) 431-4840. We will be happy to help you decide what size unit your require.
Do I need Insurance?
We highly recommend that you purchase insurance for your stored items, just like you do for your valuables at home. Many times your home owners insurance or renters insurance will cover the contents of your self storage unit. Check with your insurance carrier. If you need additional insurance, the facility manager can recommend insurance carriers that cover items in self storage units.
Can I pay for my unit with a credit card?
Yes, we accept both Mastercard and Visa. You can arrange for automatic monthly payment, as well.
Is there a minimum rental term?
Yes, one month is our minimum rental period. We have available longer terms to suit your needs.
Who provides the lock?
You can bring your own lock or we have locks available for sale at the storage facility. Tell us that you found us on www.alluvialministorage.com and get at FREE lock!
What size boxes do I use?
Use large boxes for light items and smaller boxes for heavier items. Small boxes are good for books.
How should I wrap breakable items?
Wrap breakable items individually and pad the box with packing paper or bubble wrap. Mirror packs or strong cardboard should be used when packing mirrors.
Any special tips when packing the self storage unit?
Protect furniture and mattresses with plastic covers. Leave access space in front of your unit for frequently used items. Don't stack boxes higher than you can reach. Stacking uniform size boxes helps maximize your space. Store valuable items at the back of your storage unit in unmarked boxes.
